Introduction to Computer Systems Servicing

The COMPUTER SYSTEMS SERVICING NC II Qualification consists of competencies that must possess to enable to install and configure computers SYSTEMS, set-up computers networks and servers and to maintain and repair COMPUTER SYSTEMS and networks.

In the DepEd Kto12 Curriculum the Computer Systems Servicing or known as CSS is under the Technical-Vocational-Livelihood or TVL Track. It is designed to provide you with the technical skills and knowledge in using tools and equipment that allows people to interact in the digital world.

The TVL Track is consist of 4 strands which are:

  1. Agri-Fishery Arts
  2. Home Economics
  3. ICT
  4. Industrial Arts


CSS is under the ICT or Information and Communications Technology Strand and CSS is the name of the Specialization. Aside from Computer Systems Servicing There are lots of specialization under in ICT.

It has:

·Animation (NC II)

·Broadband Installation (Fixed Wireless Systems) (NC II)

·Computer Programming (.net Technology)  (NC III)          

·Computer Programming (Java) (NC III)

·Illustration (NC II)

·And many more

The number of required hours for CSS is 640 hours.

It covers seven (7) Common competencies that a student ought to possess: 1) application of quality standards, 2) computer operations; 3) performing mensuration and calculation; 4) Preparation and interpretation of technical drawing; 5) The use of hand tools; 6) terminating and to electrical damaged and electronics circuits; and 7) Testing electronics components; and four (4) , namely, 1) Installing and configuring computer systems, 2.) Setting up computer networks, 3) setting up computer servers, and 4) maintaining and repairing computer systems and networks.

The best thing about this strand is that you can earn a National Certificate on each subject, provided that you pass the assessments from TESDA. National Certificates can help boost your chances for employment in the future.


What can I do after SHS?

Business? Work? College?

You can take different corporate after taking the ICT strand. With the right set of skills and knowledge, you can take a job as a call center agent, a web designer, a data encoder, a computer technician, a graphic designer, or a junior programmer. You can also take up sales positions such as online sales agent and IT sales clerk.

If you are planning to continue your studies in college with this as your strand, you can take up electrical computer Engineering, information technology, software and network engineering!
